Coach 1880 – Quad Slide Motorhome & Engineering Coach
A Purpose-Built Featherlite for Performance on the Move
Coach 1880 is a 2012 Featherlite Vantaré H3-45 S4 quad slide executive coach originally built for Toyota Racing Development. Because of that, this coach was designed to do far more than provide luxury travel. It was created to support engineering teams, advanced connectivity, and long days at the track while still delivering the craftsmanship, comfort, and polish expected from Featherlite.
As a result, Coach 1880 tells a very different story than a typical motorhome. This was a bespoke build with a clear mission: combine high-level function with premium fit and finish. In other words, it was engineered to work hard, travel well, and represent its owner at a very high level.

Built for Engineering, Collaboration, and Connectivity
Front Salon Designed for Team Use
The front salon was planned with space for up to 12 engineers. It included fixed chair positions, bench seating, workstation tables, monitor placement, headset storage, radio chargers, and integrated power and data connections. Therefore, this space was designed to support real collaboration instead of serving as a typical lounge alone.
Rear Salon with Flexibility and Privacy
Meanwhile, the rear salon supported two principal engineers plus additional guests. That gave the coach a second zone for work, conversation, and hospitality. Because of that, Coach 1880 could function as both a mobile workspace and an executive environment.
Advanced IT Infrastructure
In addition, the coach included a dedicated IT cabinet inside the salon, a server-rack-ready belly compartment, extensive Ethernet and accessory cabling, redundant internet sources, and climate-controlled equipment space. As a result, Coach 1880 was built to function as a mobile engineering and communications hub.

Featherlite Luxury, Executed with Purpose
Premium Materials Throughout
Even with its highly functional mission, Coach 1880 never lost the luxury character of a Featherlite. Yacht-style DC LED lighting, a custom ceiling with concealed HVAC ducting, wood flooring in the salon and galley, ceramic tile in the bath, Corian countertops, leather seating, European-style cabinetry, and electric pocket doors all helped give the coach a finished, professional feel.
Built to Perform and Present Well
At the same time, those materials were selected to support durability and comfort in a demanding travel environment. That balance is what makes this build stand out. Consequently, Coach 1880 reflects Featherlite’s ability to deliver specialized function without sacrificing craftsmanship.

A Layout Designed to Work All Day
Quad Slide Space Where It Matters Most
The quad slide configuration gave Coach 1880 the space needed to support both productivity and livability. In the front salon, opposing 30-inch Featherlite slide rooms created a larger collaborative workspace. In the rear salon, opposing flush-floor slides opened up a second living and working area. Because of that, the coach could support long workdays without feeling cramped.
Practical for Extended Use
Just as importantly, the coach included features that reinforced daily usability, from a roll-out pantry and refrigerator/freezer to multiple work desks, sofa seating, bath amenities, and a large sofa bed in the rear salon. So while Coach 1880 was highly technical, it was also clearly built for extended real-world use.
Advanced Technology for a Demanding Environment
Connectivity Built into the Coach
The IT story behind Coach 1880 is one of its strongest differentiators. The build included support for live timing and scoring feeds, live weather data, and track-data sync to TRD servers. To make that possible, the coach was designed with a salon control cabinet, a belly compartment for a 12U server rack, UPS support, a Cradlepoint router, satellite internet, and redundant 4G aircard connections.
Built with Room to Expand
In addition, the infrastructure was planned with room for future expansion. That kind of preparation shows that Coach 1880 was designed around serious operational needs, not simple convenience. As a result, it offers a level of built-in capability that sets it apart from more conventional luxury motorhomes.

Premium Systems Behind the Scenes
Coach 1880 also reflected the kind of engineering depth Featherlite is known for. It featured a 20kW Powertech diesel generator on airbags in a quiet box, dual Victron 5000-watt true sine wave inverters with chargers, advanced lighting controls, boat-cable AC wiring, twisted-pair DC wiring, AGM house batteries, four 15,000 BTU roof air conditioning units, multiple toe-kick heaters, a high-flow marine water pump, freshwater filtration, heated bay space, and carefully organized electrical and plumbing service areas. Together, these systems underline the seriousness of the build beneath the polished interior.

Why Coach 1880 Stands Out
Coach 1880 stands out because it combines two things Featherlite does exceptionally well: premium craftsmanship and specialized execution. On one hand, it offers the finish quality, materials, and systems expected in a high-end Vantaré. On the other hand, it was purpose-built to support engineers, technology, and performance-driven operations at a very high level. Ultimately, that combination makes Coach 1880 a rare and memorable example of what bespoke Featherlite design can accomplish.
